New Professional audio converter delivers a truly transparent audio experience

Building on its history and track record in audio, Cirrus Logic has announced a new line of professional audio products that provide manufacturers with transparent audio converters that enable designers to customize their products. The recently redesigned Cirrus Logic Pro Auido family of professional audio converters now includes high-performance, low-power analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), with digital-to-analog converters (Dacs) and audio codecs coming later this year.

Building on its history and track record in audio, Cirrus Logic has announced a new line of professional audio products that provide manufacturers with transparent audio converters that enable designers to customize their products. The recently redesigned Cirrus Logic Pro Auido family of professional audio converters now includes high-performance, low-power analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), with digital-to-analog converters (Dacs) and audio codecs coming later this year. Cirrus Logic's professional audio devices use processes optimized for analog performance and digital density to deliver best-in-class performance and industry-leading low power and system-level enhancements such as hybrid gain control to solve common audio problems in the industry.

Cirrus Logic CS532/04/08P analog-to-digital converter

The first products to be launched are three analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) in the same family, designed to provide transparent audio conversion within an easy-to-use and integrated device. Cirrus Logic CS5302P Stereo ADCs, CS5304P 4-channel ADCs, and CS5308P 8-channel ADCs can be used on Musical Instruments such as digital mixers, USB audio interfaces, home audio and audio and video receivers, synthesizers, DJ mixers, and amplifiers. And video recording and automotive applications. The simple control scheme combined with a single power rail and flexible clock configuration makes these devices easy to integrate in all of these application markets.

Hybrid gain control solves the complexity of front-end gain

Cirrus Logic's hybrid gain control redefines the microphone's front-end gain design compared to existing solutions, reducing booms and simplifying the customer's system design. By placing analog and digital gain states in the same chip, the gain distribution between the two is matched. This feature allows customers to retain their existing microphone preamplifier design as a product differentiator while reducing overall system complexity. Hybrid gain control is suitable for all customers implementing microphone pre-gain control, such as USB audio interfaces for digital mixers and digital audio workstations, among other applications.

 

High performance on a low power budget

Whether in the studio or at home, the redesigned Pro Audio series delivers excellent performance within a 25mW/ch power budget. The device introduced today is a 32-bit resolution ADC that supports differential analog inputs with sampling rates up to 768 kHz. These ADCs use a five-order multibit sigma-delta modulator, which is then digitally filtered and extracted to provide 126dB dynamic range for the CS5302P and 123dB dynamic range for the CS5304/8P. All products have THD+N below -110 dB.
