New auto-grade phototransistor couplers save energy and space

     Vishay Intertechnology has announced the launch of a new automotive grade phototransistor coupler, the VOMA618A, in a compact SOP-4 miniature flat package with a current transfer ratio (CTR) of 50% to 600% and a forward current of only 1 mA.

     The Vishay Semiconductors VOMA618A forward current is 80% lower than the previous generation solution, helping to save energy in automotive and high-reliability applications, while the ultra-thin package saves board space. The device is AEC-Q101 certified for hybrid and electric vehicle current noise isolation, signal transmission, battery management, 48 V board network and system control.

     The VOMA618A uses GaAlA infrared light-emitting diodes that are optically coupled to silicon phototransistors. The SOP-4 Micro flat package has a rated isolation voltage of 3750V, creepage distance and electrical gap ≥ 5mm. The device's coupling capacitance is only 1.2pF, compliant with RoHS and Vishay green standards, and halogen-free.
