
Vishay Intertechnology has announced the launch of its new automotive grade Power Metal PlATEa "¢current detectors, WFPA3939 and WFPB3939, in the 3939 form factor Kelvin connection package with a rated power of 20 W. Vishay Dale's hybrid installation of WFPA3939 and WFPB3939 resistors saves board space, reduces component count, and improves measurement accuracy for automotive, industrial, and AMS applications thanks to increased power density.
The device uses a copper heat sink, which improves the thermal management design, so that the 3939 package size, rated Power 20 W galvanometer has the excellent electrical characteristics of the Power Metal Plate structure. The AEC-Q200 certified device allows designers to use a single high-power resistor instead of multiple low-power resistors in parallel, reducing measurement errors, reducing board space required, and designing smaller, lighter end products.
The WFPA3939 and WFPB3939 use proprietary process technology to achieve extremely low resistance values from 2mΩ to 8mΩ, with tolerances as low as ± 1.0%. The devices are suitable for a wide range of galvanic and pulse applications, including automotive electric power steering systems, brushless DC motor control, electric and hybrid vehicle battery management, industrial high-power inverter/converter control, large motor drives, high-power galvanic modules, and instrumentation power supplies and AMS applications.
The resistance uses a low TCR (± 20 ppm/°C) solid metal mangano-copper and nickel-chromium resistance core, the inductance value is less than 10 nH, the thermal EMF is less than 2 µV/°C, and the operating temperature is -65 °C to +170 °C. Devices comply with RoHS and Vishay green standards and are halogen-free.
