Toshiba Electronics Components and Storage announced the launch of an Interface driver/receiver IC, the "TB9032FNG", an in-vehicle driver/receiver IC for the physical layer interface defined in the Clock Extension Peripheral Interface (CXPI) In-vehicle Communication Protocol standard. The product operates at temperatures ranging from -40℃ to 125℃ and is designed to meet the AEC-Q100 (Class 1) on-board electronic component verification standard.
The electrification of vehicles is driving an increase in the number of electronic components in on-board systems, which is not only increasing the complexity of the devices, but also increasing the weight of vehicles as manufacturers incorporate more wiring harnesses into their designs. The solution to this problem lies in revolutionizing the current system, where the human-machine interface (HMI) connects switches and sensors in a one-to-one manner, reducing the amount of wiring harnesses by multiplexing in-car communications.
HMI usually integrates local area network (CAN) and Local Area Internet Network (LIN). The former is more costly, but the latter is less responsive. CXPI is a set of on-board communication protocols developed in Japan and now adopted as an international standard. CXPI includes on-board sub-networks with lower cost than CAN and higher response speed than LIN.The TB9032FNG combines motor control device (MCD) and CXPI communication and provides a network interface for on-board applications or an interface for the Area Electronic Control Unit (ECU). It can support the control of door locks and rearview mirror controls and other functions.
The new product can switch modes between instruction nodes and response nodes through an external terminal. In addition, it has 5μA (typical value) current consumption (sleep) (IBAT_SLP) and low current consumption in standby mode. In addition, it is equipped with fault detection features, including overheating detection and low voltage detection, and in the P-SOP8-0405-1.27-002 package.
