New smart health sensors for mobile consumer devices

     Ams has introduced the AS7026, an optical sensor for continuous monitoring of cardiovascular health, with medical-grade 1 precision measurement of blood pressure. Combined with AMS 'VivaVita™ accessory design, it provides turnkey solutions for customers who need to reduce time to market, creating feature-rich mobile applications for iOS and Android™ mobile operating systems.

     Embed the AS7026 into consumer devices such as health monitoring wristbands or smartwatches to continuously take heart rate, heart rate variability, blood pressure, and electrocardiogram (ECG) measurements. The AS7026's advanced optical semiconductor technology combined with sophisticated algorithms allows for unprecedented levels of measurement accuracy in wearable devices, and the blood pressure measurement algorithm used by the AS7026 has been tested to medical Class 1 (Class B) accuracy according to the IEEE 1708-2014 industry standard.

     The sensor's high-precision cardiovascular measurement capabilities create new development potential for consumer and lifestyle devices such as smartwatches, enabling them to provide valuable health monitoring data around the clock that would normally require the use of dedicated medical equipment and is only available in a hospital or doctor's surgery.
