Nexperia Launches New Product Portfolio of Special MOSFET (ASFET) for Automatic Airbag

     Nexperia has introduced a new product portfolio of dedicated MOSFET (ASFET) for automatic airbag applications. The BUK9M20-60EL, which focuses on single N-channel 60V, 13 mOhm conduction internal resistance, logic control level MOSFET, is applied to LFPAK33 packaging. ASFET is a MOSFET specially designed and optimized for a certain application. This portfolio is the latest in Nexperia's range of ASFETs for battery isolation, motor control, hot plug, and power over Ethernet (PoE) applications.

     The BUK9M20-60EL uses Nexperia's new Enhanced Safe Workspace (SOA) technology, which is tailored to deliver outstanding transient linear mode performance, a key performance metric in airbag applications. The BUK9M20-60EL achieves this performance in the new LFPAK33 package, which saves 84% of the board space compared to the old DPAK package while maintaining the original robustness.

     "Other products in this category use older DPAK packages, often based on DMOS and the first generation Trench technology, which are gradually being phased out by many wafer manufacturers," said Norman Stapelberg, senior product marketing Manager at Nexperia. This ASFET product portfolio uses the latest wafer Trench technology and LFPAK encapsulation to meet the latest reliability standards. "With the latest manufacturing and packaging technologies, Nexperia improves supply chain sustainability and is better positioned to meet the needs of a growing market for such products."
