Nexperia has recently expanded its long-standing range of power bipolar junction transistors (BJTs) by introducing ten standard and ten automotive-qualified products packaged in the DFN2020D-3 series. Introducing these new devices, offered in 50 V and 80 V ratings and encompassing current levels ranging from 1 A to 3 A in NPN and PNP polarity, reinforces Nexperia’s status as a prominent market provider. With this release, Nexperia provides the bulk of its power bipolar junction transistors (BJTs) in DFN packaging, catering to designers seeking a compact and energy-efficient option compared to the previous SOT223 and SOT89 packages.
As opposed to their leaded equivalents, DFN2020D-3 packed devices offer substantial board space savings. Specifically, it achieves an 80% decrease in board area compared to SOT89 and a 90% decrease compared to SOT223. In addition, the DFN2020D-3 package incorporates side-wettable flanks to facilitate automated optical inspection (AOI) of solder connections, hence enhancing their durability and predictability.
Aside from general-purpose transistors, Nexperia has also introduced a range of low VCEsat devices, such as the PBS5350PAS-Q. By combining remarkably low saturation voltage and strong current gain, these devices can enhance the energy efficiency of certain power supply applications. Under their exceptional performance, low VCEsat transistors can substitute conventional transistors in larger packages, therefore facilitating the development of more compact designs on smaller PCBs.
In addition, Nexperia provides users of bipolar junction transistors with the BJT Application Handbook, a practical, comprehensive, and current reference book authored by engineers specifically for engineers.
