Nexperia introduces common-mode filters that support the highest transmission speeds

     Nexperia, a specialist manufacturer of discrete, MOSFET devices and analog and logic ics, introduces the common-mode filter (choke)/ESD protection combination that supports the highest transmission speeds on the market. The new PCMFxUSB3BA/C device has the highest differential bandwidth in the industry, with 3dB bandwidths up to 10 GHz and surge robustness up to 7.5 A (8/20 µs). It is designed to suppress common-mode and single-ended noise while minimizing the impact on ultra-high-speed signal integrity.

     Developed specifically for ultra-high speed USB applications, this new device provides effective protection and filtering for 1, 2 and 3-wire pairs (Tx +/-, Rx +/-, D +/-). The filter has a proven 10 Gbps communication line protection function and exceeds IEC 61000-4-2 level 4 in system-level robustness, making it ideal for sensitive system-level chip applications. The solution also minimizes reflection compared to discrete designs. The application of Nexperia TrEOS technology enables low clamping and high robustness. The PCMFxUSB3BA/C extends Nexperia's family of common-mode filters (PCMF devices) to help make a better choice between differential bandwidth and common-mode rejection in the case of signal fundamental frequencies and higher harmonics.

     The new PCMF filter is a low-inductance, space-saving WLCSP package. The device is compatible with the footprint of individual ESD devices, enabling customers to quickly change design solutions.
