Nexperia launches the P-channel MOSFET in a space-saving, rugged LFPAK56 package

     Nexperia, a high-capacity production specialist in the production of semiconductor basic components, announced the first P-channel MOSFET family in the highly robust, space-efficient LFPAK56 (Power-SO8) package. The new device is AEC-Q101 compliant for automotive applications and can be used as an ideal replacement for DPAK MOSFETs, reducing the package footprint by more than 50% while maintaining performance. The new series is available in the operating voltage range from 30 V to 60 V, with on-resistance RDS(on) as low as 10 mΩ (30 V).

     The LFPAK package, with its copper clip construction, was pioneered by Nexperia and has been used for nearly 20 years in demanding applications such as automotive. The package proved to be far more reliable than required by AEC standards, exceeding key reliability test indicators by a factor of two, while the unique package structure also improved board level reliability. Previously, only n-channel devices were packaged in LFPAK. Now, due to industrial demand, Nexperia has expanded its LFPAK56 product range to include P-channel devices.

They are also suitable for industrial application scenarios such as 5G base stations."
