Nexteer introduces modular rack electric power steering system

     Nexteer Automotive Systems launched an innovative modular rack electric Power steering system (mREPS), expanding its portfolio of cost-effective modular electric power steering systems to flexibly and effectively meet the wide range of automotive manufacturers' demand for advanced steering systems for electric vehicles, light commercial vehicles and other heavy vehicles.

     Taking advantage of Tesla's existing, industry-leading electric power steering building blocks, the modular rack and pinion electric power steering system adds scalability to the company, while providing Oems with cost and time benefits, including shorter development times and higher vehicle platform component reutilization.

     The Nexteer modular rack electric power steering is equipped with a fully circular controller assembly that delivers advanced safety and reliability in a compact layout for Class 3 to 5 Advanced Driver assistance systems (ADAS) as defined by the International Society of Automata Engineers. In addition, the product enables flexible steering with custom-developed high-performance torque and position sensors.
