Nisshinbo Micro Devices has unveiled a digital IC for detecting earth leakage current. This IC is specifically developed to improve the safety and dependability of electrical systems by incorporating sophisticated features for detecting overvoltage and DC current.

     Nisshinbo Micro Devices has introduced a digital IC for detecting the current of ground drains. This integrated circuit has been specially developed to improve the safety and reliability of electrical systems by combining the complex function of detecting overvoltage and DC current. The NA2201 digital detector integrated circuit (IC) uses CMOS technology. It is mainly used for ground leakage circuit breakers.

 

     The integrated 14-bit ADC converts the analog signal from the zero-phase-sequence current transformer (ZCT) into digital data. Then the digital data is analyzed according to the state of the leakage current detector. The NA2201 generates a monopulse on the SCRT terminal that activates the external thyristor when it detects an analog signal indicating a leak during data processing.

 

     The NA2201 provides options for detecting leakage and can be used in both Type A and AC environments. The product includes a feature that provides instant response at the travel level. It can be easily enabled or disabled based on specific security needs, thus increasing the versatility of various security requirements.

 

     In addition, the integrated circuit (IC) integrates the overvoltage detection function and also solves the problem of protecting the neutral line in case of  phase loss, providing a comprehensive solution to prevent electrical problems. Three selection pins are used to determine the range of options for operation and safety functions.

 

     The detector integrated circuit (IC) is also provided with a separate delay configuration for detecting leakage and overvoltage. These configurations can be changed by utilizing external capacitors. This adaptability allows the precise adjustment of the delay configuration to align with the unique requirements of the application. In addition, integrated circuits can detect direct current (DC), providing an additional level of protection. This feature is particularly suitable for applications such as Mode 3 electric car chargers.
