Nordic Semiconductor extends the nRF51 series SoC operating temperature range for industrial applications

     Ultra-low power (ULP) radio frequency (RF) specialist Nordic Semiconductor ASA has announced its award-winning nRF51822 Bluetooth Smart (formerly known as Bluetooth low) energy) and 2.4GHz proprietary System-on-Chip (SoC) now meet the full industry-standard industrial operating temperature range of -40 to +85°C.

     Bluetooth smart wireless technology continues to gain acceptance and introduction into new market segments and applications, so a wider operating temperature range has been developed in response. Nordic Semiconductor's nRF51822 SoC offers industry-leading performance, power consumption, flexibility, and now a wider operating temperature range, making it the ideal solution for a wide range of applications including industrial, home, and enterprise automation.

     The nRF51822 16kB RAM / 256kB flash memory, 6x6mm 48-pin QFN SoC will be the first model to be recertified for the -40 to +85 industrial temperature range Product specification revisions providing performance and functionality across the entire extended temperature range are now available for download at www.nordicsemi.no. Nordic Semiconductor plans to identify additional product models throughout the first half of 2015.
