Onsemi has introduced a breakthrough simulation tool for its EliteSiC silicon Carbide (SiC) product line and its applications. The new Elite Power Simulator online simulation tool and PLECS model self-generation tool enable engineers to gain valuable reference information through system-level simulation of complex power electronics applications early in the development cycle. These tools provide cutting-edge, precise simulation data to enable customers to select EliteSiC products according to their application requirements, eliminating the cost and time required for hardware manufacturing and testing, and saving time for power electronics engineers.
With the Elite Power Simulator and PLECS model self-generation tool, customers can freely and flexibly create high-fidelity system-level PLECS models. Whether customers upload PLECS self-service models to onsemi's Elite Power Simulator or download them for direct use, it delivers the optimized performance and accuracy required for demanding power electronics simulation. These models are generated based on typical or worst-case conditions, enabling customers to design within technical boundaries. The ability to define parasitic parameters for specific applications ensures that the resulting PLECS model provides highly accurate results for the customer's system-level simulation
"Our PLECS simulation tool is very popular with power designers because of its speed and ease of use," said Jost Allmelling, co-founder and managing director of Plexim. It is particularly exciting to see these true innovations, including the ability to accurately simulate soft switch applications, customized models through Anson's PLECS model self-generation tool, and existing models for boundary conditions."
To date, system-level simulation tools and associated PLECS models have only been suitable for hard-switch topology simulation because for soft switch applications such as LLC(inductor-to-inductor-to-capacitance) or CLLC(capacitor-inductor-to-capacitance), simulation results are very inaccurate. Ansenmei leads the PLECS model of the industry to break through this bottleneck and solve this problem for customers. "onsemi's SiC simulation tool is a major step forward for the industry, accelerating soft/hard switch designs to market," said Asif Jakwani, senior vice president and general manager, Advanced Power Division, Power Solutions Division, OnSemi. "Our tools enable customers to understand how our devices perform in their application environments and optimize performance to meet technical boundaries."
