
ON Semiconductor, which is driving energy efficient innovation, expands the capabilities of the Bluetooth 5-certified radio Systems on a Chip (SoC) RSL10 family to support the Bluetooth SIG mesh networking standard, and also introduces a new personal computer (PC) software application with integrated RSL10 USB adapters. New software and design support tools coupled with the recently released RSL10 SIP system-level package simplify development and support a wide range of industrial and consumer applications.
ON Semiconductor introduces Mesh support for standardized Bluetooth mesh networks, enabling many-to-many device communication. Device manufacturers can now deploy large-scale, low-power Bluetooth mesh networks for applications such as smart homes, building automation, and asset tracking.
The RSL10 Mesh from ON Semiconductor offers more features and the industry's lowest power consumption. The RSL10 consumes only 62.5 nanowatts (nW) in deep sleep mode and 7 milliwatts (mW) at peak reception, providing advanced wireless capabilities without compromising battery life. The RSL10 radio energy efficiency was recently validated by EEMBC's ULPMark, becoming the first device in benchmarking history to exceed 1,000 ULPMark, with a Core Profile score more than double that of previous industry leaders.
With the RSL10 USB adapter, prototyping and testing of Bluetooth low-power peripherals is now easier to achieve node-to-node and mesh interconnections. Used in conjunction with the BLE Explorer software application, the RSL10 USB adapter enables developers to scan, connect, and interact wirelessly with prototypes while monitoring and recording behavior.
