OmniVision Technologies has unveiled the first automotive image sensor powered by Nyxel technology

     OmniVision Technologies, the world's leading digital imaging solution provider, has announced the automotive industry's first image sensor powered by Nyxel's ground-breaking near-infrared (NIR) technology: the OX03A2S. The 2.5 megapixel ASIL-B class sensor is designed for external imaging applications and can be used in low-light or even no-light environments up to 2 meters around the car body.

     Nyxel technology uses a new silicon semiconductor architecture and process to achieve a quantum efficiency of up to 40% at 940nm NIR wavelength, which is among the highest in the global automotive industry. Thanks to this, the OX03A2S can detect and recognize objects in low light that other image sensors cannot capture, thereby improving the performance of security systems.

In addition, Howe's DCG technology also enables excellent HDR performance.      Because automotive sensors using OX03A2S have lower illumination requirements, material costs and overall power consumption are also reduced. In addition, the sensor has a 1/2.44" optical specification and its A-CSP ™ package is 50% smaller in volume compared to competing models, helping to hide the camera from view for improved form factor design.
