OmniVision announces new OS08C10. This 8-megapixel backlit (BSI) image sensor uses interlaced high dynamic range (HDR) and single-exposure dual analog gain (DAG) technology for high-performance imaging in harsh lighting conditions. The OS08C10 is based on 1.45 micron BSI pixels and supports both ultra HD 4K resolution and high frame rates. The OS08C10 comes in a small 1/2.8 inch optical format, which is a common size for home and professional security, iot, and motion cameras.
Cheney Zhang, senior marketing Manager at OmniVision, said: "Our new 1.45 micron pixel OS08C10 image sensor has higher sensitivity and lower readout noise, thus closing the gap with the large pixel image sensors required for high-performance imaging in the traditional security market. OS08C10 supports interleaved HDR and DAG HDR. Interleaved HDR can extend the dynamic range under light and dark conditions. The new built-in DAG supports single-exposure HDR and reduces motion artifacts. "Our new sensors are feature-rich and support ultra HD 4K resolution for superior image quality with more detail and clarity."
OmniVision's OS08C10 captures live 4K video at a frame rate of 60 frames per second with minimal artifacts. It uses a selective conversion Gain (SCG) pixel design to flexibly choose between low and high conversion gains depending on lighting conditions. In addition, the sensor uses new correlation multiple sampling (CMS) technology to further reduce readout noise and improve SNR1 and low-light performance. The OS08C10's on-chip Defect Pixel Correction (DPC) technology corrects defective pixels that may occur throughout the sensor's life cycle, especially under harsh operating conditions, in real time, resulting in better quality and reliability than standard devices.
The OS08C10 uses OmniVision's PureCel®Plus-S stack backlighting technology to achieve high resolution of 8 megapixels in a small BSI pixel size of 1.45 microns. This sensor consumes less than 300 milliwatts (60 frames per second), which is much lower than similar products on the market today. OmniVision's OS08C10 is also an affordable 4K solution for applications in areas such as security, iot and motion photography.
