OmniVision introduces two new global shutter sensors for machine vision applications

     OmniVision has announced two new CMOS Global Shutter (GS) image sensors for machine vision applications. OmniVision has formed a new Machine Vision division that will focus on creating innovative solutions for industrial automation, robotics, logistics barcode scanners and intelligent transportation systems (ITS).

     OmniVision's new GS sensor features ultra-small 2.2 micron backlighting (BSI) pixels that enable high resolution in a compact design. These high-resolution, small-size GS sensors offer leading shutter efficiency for clear, accurate capture of fast-moving objects at high frame rates. In addition, it has high sensitivity, low noise, and higher near-infrared quantum efficiency (QE), enabling industry-leading low-light performance.

     The 2.2-micron BSI GS sensor is 1.08 times more sensitive when using F2.0 lenses and 2.16 times more sensitive when using F1.4 lenses than the previous generation of 2.5-micron front-facing (FSI) GS sensors. The new OG05B1B is a CMOS black and white global shutter sensor with a resolution of 5 megapixels in 1/2.53-inch optical format. The new OG01H1B is a 1.5-megapixel CMOS black and white global shutter sensor in 1/4.51-inch optical format.

     Both image sensors feature OmniVision's Nyxel Near infrared (NIR) technology, which boosts QE at 700-1050nm wavelengths, enabling brighter images to be captured from longer distances. The PureCel Plus-S chip stack architecture enables excellent image sensor performance; CSP packaging technology enables the smallest possible product size.
