
OnRobot, the global leader in robotic end Tools (EOAT), has announced the launch of a small, single-pad version of its innovative gecko seamless adhesive gripper. The new gecko Single Pad (SP) holder brings the same functionality to new automation applications with smaller sizes and lower payloads. The Gecko SP grippers are available in three sizes: SP1, SP3, and SP5, named after the gripper's payload (in kilograms), and are capable of grasping a wide range of flat, smooth, shiny, or perforated workpieces.

The Gecko SP grippers are available in three sizes: SP1, SP3, and SP5, named after the gripper's payload (in kilograms), and are capable of grasping a wide range of flat, smooth, shiny, or perforated workpieces. Since the technology does not even leave a mark on the highlight surface, cleaning steps in the manufacturing process are eliminated, saving time and increasing production. Like its larger sibling, Gecko SP grippers can grip even porous workpieces, such as printed circuit boards, aluminum mesh or gaskets.
The award-winning gecko gripper technology uses millions of micro-scale fibrous bundles that adhere to surfaces using powerful van der Waals forces, the same way geckos climb. The technology saves on costs and maintenance by eliminating the need for compressed air or an external power supply, and can be implemented quickly and easily with OnRobot's all-in-one system solution platform, with little programming required on any large collaborative or light industrial robot arm for increased production flexibility.
