The AXM0F343 of onsemi is a true single chip wireless application chip system (SoC). The AXM0F343 includes the onsemi narrowband AX5043 RF transceiver and the high-performance Arm Cortex-M0+microcontroller (MCU) in the QFN40 package. The AX5043 radio is powerful and software programmable. Through a wide range of modulation schemes, the frequency range is from 27 MHz to 1050 MHz, and the data rate is from 0.1 kbps to 125 kbps. Almost any sub ghz protocol, proprietary or standard based, can be implemented.
The software programmability of the radio core makes it possible to share a common hardware design for products loaded with different software, making it easier for users to manage multiple skus. Using this device to implement a powerful gateway implementation can also implement a multi protocol solution. The integrated frequency synthesizer can generate any carrier frequency from 27 MHz to 1050 MHz. External inductors are used for integrated VCOs with frequencies below~400 MHz, but integrated inductors can be used for VCOs with frequencies above~400 MHz.
The AX5043 receiver is robust enough to achieve sensitivity as low as - 137 dBm while consuming less than 10 mA. For applications requiring antenna diversity, including the integrated diversity controller, the external antenna switch can be automatically controlled through the general I/O (GPIO) pin. The receiver also has a radio wake-up function to reduce power consumption by allowing MCU to sleep as long as possible between radio events. The transmitter includes a differential power amplifier that produces up to 16 dBm or a single ended option up to 13 dBm.
High performance Arm Cortex-M0+operating frequency up to 40 MHz; Between the two variants, it has either 64 kB Flash and 8 kB RAM, or 256 kB Flash and 32 kB RAM. MCU has two USART blocks, one SPI controller and I2C interface. Rich timer options include systick timer, three 16 bit universal timers, a 32-bit tick timer, and a 32-bit watchdog timer. There are four capture and compare PWM blocks, a sigma delta modulator for onboard hardware acceleration of AES, CRC and TRNG, and 19 programmable GPIOs.
In addition to the extremely powerful core, AXM0F343 MCU also has powerful simulation functions. There is an integrated 12 bit SAR ADC capable of 1 Msps conversion to single ended and fully differential modes, up to 6 channels. MCU also contains two ultra-low power comparators.
