Pixelworks introduces sixth generation vision processor with AI-adaptive picture quality

     Pixelworks has released its sixth generation mobile vision processor, the i6, the first product based on Pixelworks' extensive mobile display dataset and low-power artificial intelligence (AI) technology for training models. The Pixelworks i6 processor is the industry's first device to feature an integrated AI processing unit that adaptively optimizes overall image quality to deliver a consistently superior visual experience in a variety of mobile viewing conditions.

     The Pixelworks i6 processor uses AI to intelligently increase the dynamic range of video and game content while optimizing the display's contrast, sharpness, brightness, and color temperature based on ambient lighting conditions, content properties, display characteristics, and usage patterns to create a 24/7 cinema-level visual experience. The new solution also supports Pixelworks' patented and industry-leading color calibration and management technology, as well as unique full-time HDR technology and accurate HDR10/10 + tone mapping, with a total power consumption greater than that of its predecessor (Pixelworks i3 processor, Previously known as Iris 3) reduced by 40%.

     The Pixelworks i6 Pro processor provides additional system-level software optimization to ensure superior visual quality and power levels at the highest refresh rate and resolution by intelligently mapping feature sets and modes across the widest range of applications and user instances on LCD and OLED displays. Both solutions feature Pixelworks' multiple adaptive display technologies, including flicker-free DC dimming and ultra-smooth brightness control for OLED displays, dynamic brightness control for LCD displays (with 3x video and gaming contrast), and new processing units. Maintain sharpness, contrast, and skin tone accuracy in color domains and view modes.
