
Power Integrations, a well-known company in the field of energy-efficient power conversion for high voltage integrated circuits, announced the expansion of its InnoSwitch3-MX isolated switching power supply IC product line with the addition of three new PowiGaN devices. As part of the InnoMux controller IC chipset with Power Integrations, the new switching power supply IC now supports display and appliance power applications, providing up to 75 W of continuous output power without the need for a heatsink.
The InnoMux chipset features a unique single-stage power architecture that reduces power losses in display applications by 50 percent compared to traditional designs, increasing the overall efficiency of constant voltage and constant current LED backlight driver designs to 91 percent. In addition, by removing post-stage adjustments such as buck and boost, TV and display designers can reduce the number of components by half, improving reliability and reducing manufacturing costs. With a high breakdown voltage of 750 V, the PowiGaN InnoSwitch3-MX component is also extremely reliable and durable, ensuring that the power supply can withstand input surges and voltage surges when used in areas with unstable mains voltage.
The InnoSwitch3-MX flyback switching power supply IC integrates a primary switch, primary side controller, secondary side synchronous rectifier controller and PI's innovative FluxLink high-speed communication link. The InnoSwitch3-MX receives control instructions from the InnoMux IC in the chipset, which independently measures the load requirements of each output and instructs the switching power supply IC to provide the appropriate power to each output, thus maintaining a precise adjustment of current or voltage.
