Power Integrations introduces LYTSwitch-6 Series Secure isolated LED driver ics

     Power Integrations introduces the latest member of the LYTSwitch™-6 family of securely isolated LED driver ics - high power density devices for smart lighting applications. Using PowiGaN™ technology, the new IC enables designs with up to 110 W of output power and 94% conversion efficiency through a simple and flexible flyback topology.

     The new LYTSwitch-6 IC is extremely efficient and eliminates the need for heat sinks - dramatically reducing the size and weight of the ballast and reducing the need for an air-cooled environment around the drive. The 750 V PowiGaN primary switch provides extremely low RDS(ON) and reduced switching losses. This improvement, combined with LYTSwitch-6's existing features, improves power conversion efficiency by 3% and reduces heat waste by more than a third compared to conventional solutions.

     Using PowiGaN technology, the LYTSwitch-6 IC provides lossless current detection to help improve efficiency. The new devices in the LYTSwitch-6 product family retain the advantages of fast dynamic response, provide excellent cross-adjustment rates for parallel LED strings, and do not require additional secondary voltage regulator circuits, while also supporting flicker-free system operation. These advantages ensure that dimming applications using pulse width modulation (PWM) interfaces are easier to implement.
