Power Integrations introduces SCALE-iFlex gate driver systems for durable IGBT, hybrid and silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFET power modules ranging from 1.7 kV to 4.5 kV. The system consists of a central insulated master control (IMC) and one to four modular adaptive gate drivers (Mags). IMC offers a 4.5kV withstand voltage. These Mags support different power modules, manufacturers, and semiconductor switching technologies in 1700 V, 3300 V, and 4500 V voltage levels.

The SCALE-iFlex gate driver system easily supports the paralleling of the industry's latest power modules, providing reliable and highly flexible system scalability with minimal development costs. The location of the MAG near the control terminals of the module provides excellent switching performance, and the IMC performs all necessary communication between the MAG and the user's MCU processing functions, such as PWM commands, short circuit and undervoltage fault reporting, and NTC and DC bus voltage measurement.

The IMC is equipped with an electrical interface or fiber optic interface conforming to reinforced insulation and complies with EN 50124-1, IEC 61800-5-1 and UL 61800-5-1 standards for 1700 V and 3300 V power modules. Fiber IMC also meets the basic insulation requirements of 4500 V semiconductors. The device is coated with double-sided tri-resistant paint, and the product has undergone comprehensive online testing (ICT), 100% HIPOT (high voltage insulation) and partial discharge testing to ensure extremely high reliability. The new device features a comprehensive set of protection features, such as undervoltage protection, advanced soft shutdown (ASSD) short circuit protection, and NTC temperature detection with enhanced insulation (3300 V resistance).
