Power Integrations releases InnoSwitch-EP series of constant voltage/constant displacement line flyback switching ics

     Power Integrations releases the InnoSwitch-EP series of constant voltage/constant displacement flyback switching ics. With an integrated 725 V MOSFETs, synchronous rectification, and precise secondary feedback detection control, the new IC product family provides excellent multi-output cross adjustment while providing comprehensive input voltage protection and immediate dynamic response, with no-load power consumption of less than 10 mW. The InnoSwitch-EP IC also uses Power Integrations' innovative FluxLink™ technology to design high-efficiency, high-precision and high-reliability power circuits without the need for optocouplings. It is suitable for auxiliary and standby power supplies in home appliances, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), consumer electronics, computing devices, telecommunications, and data communication applications.

The InnoSwitch-EP IC is an easy-to-implement solution that improves the efficiency of the power supply across the full load range from standby to full load, giving designers a new tool to deal with TEC regulations."

     The application of FluxLink technology can not only achieve high performance secondary feedback control, but also achieve the simplicity and low element number usually provided by primary feedback control. This facilitates the adoption of efficient synchronous rectification technology, which provides high efficiency over the entire load range, including heavy loads. For example, the InnoSwitch-EP IC enables 20 W power supplies to achieve approximately 90% efficiency in multioutput designs while reducing no-load power consumption to less than 30mW. The input overvoltage adjustment rate is highly accurate at +/-5%, while achieving an over-current protection (OCP) adjustment rate of +/-5%.

     The InnoSwitch-EP IC enhances the reliability of the power supply by reducing the number of BOM components and eliminating optical couplings whose performance degrades over time. The low voltage drop on the synchronous rectifier FET ensures that highly accurate cross-adjustment rates are maintained between the output voltage mains, which helps to eliminate the need for a two-stage linear regulator, saving both cost and energy consumption. These advantages make it suitable for a wide range of applications, including appliance applications such as microwave ovens, washing machines and clothes dryers, as well as standby power for PCS/servers, air conditioning systems, monitors, televisions and smart lighting ballasts. The InnoSwitch-EP IC also enables designers to meet the new Energy Star Version 7 display efficiency standard.
