Qorvo has announced the launch of the world's first dual-band Wi-Fi 6 front-end module (FEM), the QPF4800. This new FEM is ideal for Wi-Fi 6 client Device (CPE), which brings together the performance required to deliver HD/4K video and the efficiency required for the Internet of Things (IoT).
Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) represents the next wave of Wi-Fi evolution, supporting higher traffic demands from a single user, more users from a single access point, enhanced cellular load reduction, higher density deployments, and additional power and performance.
Qorvo's new QPF4800 FEM offers industry-leading efficiency, excellent thermal design, high linear output power and best-in-class reception performance. It comes in a compact dual-band package that supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. It is very compact and has integrated power amplifier (PA), low noise amplifier (LNA) with bypass function, and switch/dual signal. Compared to dual-band FEM, which supports Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), the QPF4800 increases linear output power by 77%, resulting in increased range and capacitance, while reducing power consumption by 20% and achieving better thermal performance required for multiple input, multiple output (MIMO).
