Qorvo introduces two high-performance PMics for data center, cloud storage and computing applications

     Qorvo, a leading provider of RF solutions for mobile, infrastructure and aerospace and defense applications, announced the launch of two power management ics (PMIC) products, the ACT85610 and ACT86600, that significantly improve the state of power management for enterprise and cloud computing systems. The new product is highly integrated and programmable, overcoming product size challenges and providing system designers with industry-leading flexibility and control. The product can be pre-programmed during the manufacturing process to adapt to different system requirements and further optimized using firmware in the field via the I2C bus.

     The Qorvo ACT85610 PMIC is the only product on the market with a single-chip compact design that combines high-performance power failure protection (PLP) and programmable power management in a single chip. The ACT85610 integrates eFuse, step-down regulator, and boost regulator FETs, supports enterprise solid state drive (SSD) applications covering common 3.3V, 5V, and 12V power inputs, and offers seven programmable universal input/output outlets (GPIOs) for status reporting, timing control, automatic system discharge, and outages. The integrated 8-channel 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) allows measurement and monitoring of critical system parameters. In addition, the ACT85610 PMIC enables automatic storage of capacitor health checks and accurate capacitance readings for enhanced system monitoring and lifetime estimation.

     The Qorvo ACT86600 PMIC integrates a high current and high efficiency regulator. This highly configurable compact device features five step-down regulators, one step-down regulator, and seven programmable GPIOs. Each regulator has multiple frequency Settings for maximum flexibility. The high current regulator can optionally be configured as a single biphase regulator with twice the current to support DC currents up to 12A. GPIO can be used to schedule external regulators, control regulator signals on/off, control voltage, send a "good power" status signal, monitor system voltage, and many other functions.
