
Qualcomm Technologies announced the successful completion of dual-connected 5G data calls based on the Sub-6GHz FDD/TDD band and millimeter wave band in 5G Independent Networking (SA) mode. Using a smartphone-shaped terminal equipped with a fourth-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 5G modem and RF system and a Qualcomm QTM545 millimeter wave antenna module, Qualcomm Technologies engineers first implemented dual-connected data calls in the 5G Sub-6GHz FDD band and 28GHz millimeter wave band. It then implemented dual-connect data calls in the 5G Sub-6GHz TDD band and 39GHz millimeter wave band, demonstrating the Snapdragon X65's powerful ability to converge high, mid and low spectrum to support a global portfolio of critical bands.
Band aggregation, which includes dual connectivity using millimeter wave and Sub-6GHz bands, is critical to delivering the multi-gigabit speeds and massive capacity required for a new generation of consumer and enterprise applications. The combination of bands across different types of radio spectrum will not only enable 5G mobile terminals to achieve wirelessly comparable broadband speeds even in challenging network environments, such as crowded and transportation hubs, but also provide robust and reliable 5G fixed wireless access services to homes and small businesses.

Qualcomm Technologies has completed a landmark data call based on millimeter wave/sub-6 GHZ carrier aggregation. The Snapdragon X65 powered smartphone form terminal successfully connected to a 5G network using Keysatek's 5G network simulation solution, demonstrating the global compatibility and interoperability of Qualcomm Technologies' solutions with 5G SA networks already deployed around the world.
Qualcomm Technologies has been leading the global 5G millimeter wave development and commercialization, and has already demonstrated the 4th generation millimeter wave chipset for smartphones. The company's latest generation Snapdragon X65 is the world's first 5G modem and RF system to offer 10Gbps peak speed, which is 100 times faster than its first-generation 4G modem.
According to the Global Mobile Suppliers Association (GSA), there are more than 100 commercial and pre-commercial 5G millimeter wave terminals worldwide, covering mobile phones, PCS, mobile hotspots, Cpes, and more. Almost all of these terminals are equipped with Snapdragon 5G modems and RF systems.
