Qualcomm introduces millimeter wave antenna modules for Snapdragon X55 5G modems and RF systems

     Qualcomm Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, announced the launch of the Qualcomm QTM527 millimeter wave antenna module for Snapdragon X55 5G modems and RF systems. Delivers the world's first fully integrated extended range millimeter-wave solution for 5G fixed Radio Access (FWA), enabling mobile operators to deliver fixed Internet broadband services to homes and businesses through their 5G network infrastructure.

     The Qualcomm QTM527 MMWave antenna module extends the capabilities of the Snapdragon X55 5G modem and RF system, providing a complete platform from modem to antenna for flexible and cost-effective high-performance 5G MMwave CPE. Leveraging its technical leadership in 5G millimeter wave, Qualcomm Technologies is providing high-power CPE solutions for Tier 1 terminals to support mobile operators and Oems with plug-and-play, multi-gigabit connectivity via an alternative to cable and fiber deployments. Accelerate the rapid deployment of high-speed Internet access services in suburban, rural areas and dense urban environments where demand is not adequately met.

     5G Fixed Wireless Access Without the "last mile" fiber deployment typically required for indoor broadband connections, CPE can be deployed directly on the roof or window to receive 5G signals. As the world's first high-power MMwave antenna module for 5G fixed wireless access, the QTM527 mmwave antenna module provides broader coverage and performance comparable to fiber optic connectivity, enabling operators and Oems to deliver 5G's multi-gigabit connectivity and ultra-low latency to a larger user base across a wide range of coverage areas.

     The Qualcomm QTM527 millimeter wave antenna module builds on the company's previous millimeter wave technology breakthroughs to expand 5G to other areas beyond smartphones. The QTM527 MMwave antenna module is integrated into the Snapdragon X55 5G modem and RF system, supporting up to 64 dual-polarized antenna units for a wider range of optimal mmwave coverage. The fully integrated system-level solution incorporates the latest millimeter wave technologies, such as beamforming, beamsteering and beamtracking for two-way communications, while being compatible with all major global regions. Qualcomm's QTM527 MMwave module is being tested out to customers, and the first high-power MMwave CPE terminals using the module are expected to be available in the first half of 2020.
