Qualcomm launched two vehicle-mounted platforms, greatly improving artificial intelligence performance

According to Qualcomm's plan, the Snapdragon Cockpit Elite is positioned for the intelligent cockpit scene, and the Snapdragon Ride Elite is positioned for the intelligent driving scene. The two products can achieve high performance, low power consumption and free combination, and automakers can choose either platform. It is also possible to run digital cockpit and intelligent driving functions on the same SoC.

It is reported that the two new products for the car will be out of the sample in 2025, the CPU speed of the new platform is three times higher than the previous generation, while the AI performance can be increased by up to 12 times.

The new platform has improved performance in all aspects

According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon Cockpit Elite and Snapdragon Ride Elite have greatly improved the performance of CPU, GPU, NPU(neural network processor) and other aspects.

On the CPU side, the two new platforms feature Qualcomm's Oryon CPU, which is customized for cars. The new platform offers 3x more CPU performance than its predecessor, enabling multiple applications to run synchronously without performance loss or latency.

On the GPU side, the new platform is equipped with Adreno Gpus. The GPU performance of the new platform is three times higher than that of the previous generation, supporting real time pursuit and immersive 3D experience, and bringing better visual effects in terms of user interface, 3D maps and realistic simulation.

In terms of NPU, the new platform uses a dedicated NPU designed for multimodal AI. The NPU is equipped with a Transformer accelerator and vector engine to support hybrid accuracy, enabling low latency, high precision, and efficient end-to-end Transformer. In addition, the NPU performance of the new platform is up to 12 times higher than that of the previous cockpit chip, supporting the processing power of large language models with billions of parameters.

When it comes to intelligent driving, Snapdragon Ride Elite's ISP(Image Signal Processor) delivers clear, sensitive visuals in extreme driving conditions. At the same time, the platform also supports 40 multi-modal sensors, including 20 16-megapixel cameras, 360-degree panoramic infrared cameras (facing the passenger) for more comprehensive coverage and in-car monitoring.

Qualcomm announces technology collaboration based on new platform

At the conference site, Qualcomm also announced the technical cooperation with Ideal Car, Mercedes-Benz and Google - Ideal and Mercedes-Benz's future production models will give priority to the Snapdragon Supreme platform; Google will work with Qualcomm on technology at the system and software levels.
