Quantenna, a division of On Semiconductor, introduces the Wi-Fi 6 Spartan Router reference design

     Quantenna Connectivity Solutions from On Semiconductor introduces advanced Wi-Fi reference designs for the latest Spartan routers. The Spartan router design is based on the QSR10GU-AX 8x8 Multiple-input, Multiple-Output (MIMO) dual-band dual-concurrent Wi-Fi 6 chipset, combined with NXP's LS1043A 1.6 GHz quad-core network processor, providing original equipment manufacturers (Oems) with unmatched coverage and network capacity. Accelerate the deployment of best-in-class Wi-Fi 6 routers to retail and service provider markets.

     Spartan routers are designed to address the growing need for wider home coverage while delivering the level of performance needed to meet demanding applications such as 4K video streaming, online gaming, cloud synchronization, and the growing number of connected smart home products. Comprehensive supporting assets are also available to aid implementation and use, including hardware design documentation and software development kits, as well as industrial design documentation. Equipment suppliers can leverage off-the-shelf reference designs to bring disruptive products to market quickly while reducing development time and costs.

     The new Wi-Fi 6 router is designed to support dual-band, dual-concurrency modes, running on 12 streams with 8x8 MIMO at 5 GHz and 4x4 MIMO at 2.4 GHz. It comes with 2.5G Ethernet wide area network (WAN) and local Area network (LAN) ports, a built-in near Field communication (NFC) card reader for easy Wi-Fi pairing, and a hardware accelerator optimized for low latency and quality of service (QoS). Key features include Wi-Fi features such as true 8x8 spatial streaming sound, massive Multi-user Multiple Input Multiple Output (MU-MIMO) and orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), transmit beamforming, 1024-orthogonal amplitude modulation (1024-QAM) and target Wake up time (TWT).

     SmartScan features zero-wait dynamic frequency selection (DFS) and enhanced scanning. The reference design includes On Semiconductor's Qdock, which supports third-party applications such as motion detection, channel state information (CSI), and radio frequency (RF) sensing to help simplify integration into customer applications.
