Quantenna and Lantiq provide the perfect 802.11ac 4x4 system solution for Ethernet routers

     Ultra-high performance wi-fi field QuantennaCommunications leading companies, Inc. Chipset supplier Lantiq announced that a joint system solution for the Ethernet retail router market is now available. The solution combines Quantenna's QSR10004x4 802.11ac chip and Lantiq's GRX300 communication processor family to bring ultra-high performance Wi-Fi technology to the mid-range Ethernet retail router market. The current AC1750 and AC1900 mid-range routers offer only 3x3 802.11ac, while the AC2000 solution from Lantiq and Quantenna greatly improves the performance of 5GHzWi-Fi by providing 4x411ac with multi-user Multiple input Multiple Output (MU MIMO). 802.11n Wi-Fi can also be optimized for existing 1x1 and 2x2 customers.

     The joint system solution creates a new mid-range Ethernet router product category and will help Ethernet router customers significantly differentiate their offerings from existing solutions. The modular reference design connects the highly integrated LantiqGRX300 with the QuantennaQSR1000 via one RGMII or two RGMII. Thanks to the unique 802.11ac offload capability, the combined Quantenna/Lantiq solution eliminates the 802.11ac throughput bottleneck that is common in today's Wi-Fi products. In addition, Lantiq's AnyClient™ beamforming technology proactively extends the reach of 11n Wi-Fi and increases data rates throughout the home. By integrating 2x2 Wi-Fi 11n into Lantiq's network processor, both cost and footprint are optimized, which also optimizes support for all existing 1x1 and 2x2 Wi-Fi customers.
