Renesas Electronics announced the launch of Quick-Connect Studio, a new cloud-based design platform for groundbreaking online Internet of Things systems that enables users to build hardware and software graphically to quickly validate prototypes and accelerate product development.

     Renesas Electronics announced the launch of Quick-Connect Studio, a new cloud-based design platform for groundbreaking online Internet of Things systems that enables users to build hardware and software graphically to quickly validate prototypes and accelerate product development. The current software development process is cumbersome -- engineers need to research and define projects, gather equipment information and requirements, lay out the hardware, develop the software, and test and iterate until the product is ready for release to the market. This process is usually done sequentially, with each step taking a significant amount of time.

 

     For the development of new products, the development of software is the most expensive stage. Whether the development process is smooth or not becomes the key factor that decides the success or failure of the whole system.With Quick-Connect Studio, pioneered by Renesas, engineers can now launch hardware and software development at the same time. This model is a fundamental shift in the industry, allowing designers to build software instantly and quickly reconfigure and test product ideas. This saves significant time and reduces risk because engineers can validate designs before committing to hardware layout.

 

     Quick-Connect Studio enables engineers to graphically drag and drop devices and subsystem blocks in the cloud to build their solutions. After each module is placed, users can automatically generate, compile, and build software, a major shift to a code-free development paradigm that makes building production-grade software as easy as building blocks. With Quick-Connect Studio, users can quickly build a complete solution in the cloud and deploy it to hardware in less than 10 minutes. Very little up-front learning or investment is required -- cloud computing power provides fast compilation capabilities, and modern GUIs reduce learning time while facilitating project reuse.

 

     Renesas Quick-Connect Studio builds on Quick-Connect IoT, a standardized hardware platform that supports industry-recognized interfaces such as PMOD™, Arduino, and MIKROE. With standard connectors, engineers seamlessly mix and match MCUS, MPUs, sensors, and connectors. In the future, users will be able to extend the solution beyond Renesas's portfolio to different partners, such as major cloud providers, service integrators, and open source community leaders.

 

     Engineers will benefit from a development model that builds graphically in the cloud and connects to real hardware while easily programming and testing complete solutions. Quick-Connect Studio automatically generates system projects. These projects can be downloaded and imported to Renesas e2 studio as pre-built binary or full source projects, allowing users to take full advantage of the full Renesas toolchain.
