RECOM debuts Medical-grade, wide-input DC/DC converters with 2MOPP/250 VAC

     RECOM has introduced two new cost-effective DC/DC converters with the highest level of medical isolation, available in both through-hole mount and SMD. The REM2A and REM4A series are 2 W and 4 W, respectively, with enhanced insulation of 5 kVAC/1 min and dual patient protection at 250 VAC These products are suitable for (2MOPP) function while having a creepage distance and electrical gap of more than 8 mm. For patient contact applications of type B, BF, and CF, leakage current is as low as 2 µA.

     Both DC/DC converters have a 2:1 input range: 4.5-12 V, 9-18 V, 18-36 V, or 36-75 VDC. Offering fixed and fully stable DC output voltages: 5 V, 9 V, 12 V, 15 V, 24 V, +/-5 V, +/-12 V and +/-15 VDC, the REM2A series also offers an additional 3.3V output. REM2A operates from -40°C to +90°C, while REM4A operates from -40°C to +80°C, with no derating required for nominal input. In the presence of airflow or derating, the module can operate at ambient temperatures up to +105°C.

     The product provides input undervoltage, output overcurrent, overvoltage and short circuit protection. In addition, an on/Off control function is available to turn off DC/DC converters for applications with energy saving requirements. IEC/EN/ANSI/AAMI 60601 3rd Edition Medical Safety certification, and IEC/EN/UL62368-1 IT and Multimedia applications certification. The module can operate in an environment with level 2 pollution up to 5000 meters above sea level. RECOM is known for its high quality, with both the 2 W and 4 W series having an average time between failures (MTBF) of more than 5 million hours at 25°C according to MIL-HDBK-217F (GB).
