RECOM introduces ultra-wide input 150 W and 300 W integrated box DC/DC power supplies for rail communication

     With fully regulated single output voltages (24 V or other voltages, such as 110 V), each product offers an ultra-wide input voltage range of 16.8 V to 137 V continuous and 14.4 V to 154 V short term, covering all common global railway nominal voltages. This helps reduce the variety of models and brings significant logistical advantages to inventory, supply and price.

     The efficiency of these two products is typically 94% (peak > Using the RECOM RMD series means a 40% reduction in power loss and heat dissipation in the final application, compared to other solutions with an average efficiency of 90%. The heat dissipation is reduced by 40%, which will undoubtedly extend the product life!

     Both series are metal housing, IP-20 rated, suitable for mounting anywhere with a chassis, and allow for natural convection heat dissipation. These products can operate in the temperature range from -40°C to +70°C and can operate at 85°C at full load for 15 minutes without derating. Therefore, unlike other solutions that require derating at more than 55°C or 70°C, no additional power is required when using these products. This is in line with the orbital operating temperature class OT4 and the specific classes ST1 and ST2. The upcoming "-E" version reduces the startup temperature to -50°C.

     The products comply with the railway standard EN 50155, EMC standard EN 50121-3-2 and IEC/EN 61000-4-2,3,4,5, insulation compatibility standard EN 50124-1 and the railway fire safety standard EN 45545-2 hazard level HL1-HL3. These products are also IEC/EC 62368-1 certified for non-rail applications. The enhanced isolation voltage is 3.5 kVAC/5 kVDC. These products are designed to comply with Class III overvoltages (OVC III) at operating altitudes up to 2,000 meters, and OVCII up to 5,000 meters. The products meet the requirements of the environmental standards, including EN 60068 temperature testing and EN 61373 Class B vehicle body installation applications for life, shock and vibration testing.

     RMD series plug and play without any external components or additional heat sink. Provides inrush current limiting and comprehensive protection, including input polarity reverse protection and undervoltage protection, 10 ms hold time at 24 VDC input voltage after input interruption or input short circuit, and over mild output overcurrent, overvoltage, and short circuit protection. The RMD150 and RMD300 contain Or-ING diodes inside, which are used in parallel to increase power OR enable redundant configuration or to charge the battery. Control and monitoring features include remote on/off, current sharing pins, output fine-tuning, and a "Power good" LED indicator with associated floating switching contacts.
