RECOM's breakthrough Ultra-Thin RPM series DC/DC converters deliver outstanding power density

     The RPM series of ultra-thin DC/DC converters from RECOM. RECOM's RPM series is a DOSA-compatible DC/DC ultra-high power converter.
The RPM series DC/DC converters measure just 12.19 x 12.19 x 3.75 mm (L x W x H) and deliver full load output at temperatures up to 90°C with a power density of over 800W/in3. Available in a 25-pad grid array (LGA) package and ultra-thin form factor, these SMD DC/DC converters are ideal for use in space-constrained applications.

     These innovative RPM modules offer 99% high efficiency at full load over a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to + 90°C. They are optimized for heat dissipation and transfer heat directly from the circuit board to the housing, thus eliminating the need for a heat sink, resulting in an ultra-thin form factor. RPM modules offer 1A, 2A, 3A and even 6A output currents in the same size package. With a new IC and novel multi-layer PCB layout, the 6A module has a power density at least 50% higher than comparable products in the market.

     Other benefits of the RPM series include the PCB's ground wire being connected to the metal housing, forming a 6-sided shield that ensures truly excellent EMC performance. In addition, the RPM series includes input and output capacitors, so the RPM series can run without additional components. To facilitate rapid testing, RECOM has also developed evaluation boards so that customers can quickly and easily test these modular products. The RPM family is widely used in the industrial and telecommunications sectors, as well as applications such as networking, storage, FPGA implementation, battery-powered devices and device protection.

     RECOM DC/DC converters are modular solutions for circuits such as industrial control, isolated power supply and device protection, with power ranges from 0.25 to 240W and multiple I/O voltage combinations. RECOM offers the right converter products for a variety of applications, including regulated and unregulated, isolated to 10kVDC, or for modular power supplies at extremely high ambient temperatures of + 100°C.
