ROHM develops the industry's highest rated shunt resistors

     ROHM, the world's leading semiconductor manufacturer, has developed the "LTR series" long-side electrode type shunt resistor "LTR10L" for a wide range of applications such as automotive equipment, industrial equipment and consumer electronics equipment. Meanwhile, the two models of the "MCR series" universal shunt resistor have also been updated as "MCR10L" and "MCR18L". The product lineup has been further strengthened.

     In recent years, not only in battery-powered applications such as mobile devices and electric vehicles, but also in consumer electronics and industrial equipment powered by outlet power, products are required to work efficiently in order to save energy. In order to achieve high efficiency, it is very important for application products to accurately detect various parameters such as current and voltage, so that each component can work in the best state, which puts forward high reliability and high precision detection requirements for shunt resistor responsible for current detection.

     In addition, manufacturers are demanding smaller shunt resistors due to the increasing density of circuit board installations in a variety of applications. In response to these market requirements, the new LTR10L achieves industry-high power rating and TCR (resistance temperature coefficient) in the small size of 1220, offering the benefits of miniaturization and high reliability. The LTR10L achieves industry-high power ratings of 1W in 1220 (1.25mm×2.0mm) shunt resistors with an improved resistive body material and a pin temperature derating, reducing the area by 88% compared to previous products.

     In addition, in addition to the addition of high-precision products with resistance tolerance of ±0.5% in the product lineup, it also achieves excellent TCR and vulcanization resistance performance in the industry. It is suitable for applications requiring high-precision current detection and long-term high reliability, such as vehicle-mounted LED headlights, and applications requiring high environmental resistance, such as communication base station power supply.

     In addition, MCR10L and MCR18L are "MCR series" general-purpose shunt resistors, which are improved by the device structure and materials of previous products MCR10 and MCR18. Compared to previous products of the same size, the MCR10L is rated up to 0.5W (2x) and the MCR18L is rated up to 0.75W (3x). The new products all have higher power ratings than previous products and can achieve the same performance in a smaller size, thus contributing to the miniaturization of applications.
