
ROHM announced the start of mass production and sale of the Power management IC(hereinafter referred to as "PMIC") "BD2613GW". Developed for Intel's tablet platform with the new generation of 14nm Atom processors, the product's high level of integration facilitates ultra-thin tablets and its industry-leading power conversion efficiency facilitates lower power consumption.
"The BD2613GW is a successor to the BD2610GW, which started mass production last year," said Takahiro Ota, head of ROHM LSI's product Strategy Division. It is not only a necessary power system for the tablet platform of Intel's Atom™ processor Z3700 series, but also integrates the system control and monitoring functions needed to work with the processor. The package is the same as the previous products, which are packaged in WLCSP. "This product achieves the industry's highest level of installation area miniaturization and cost optimization, making it the best PMIC for Android and Windows tablets."
Tom Shewchuk, director of tablet component Support at Intel, said: "For tablet products, how to achieve good power management is a very important issue. "I am very pleased to have been able to work with ROHM to develop a powered tablet platform for our next generation Atom™ processor."
