Radiation-resistant phototransistor unsealed surface mounted optical coupler

Skyworks Solutions OLC449 optical coupler is an unsealed surface mounted optical coupler for radiation-resistant phototransistors. The optical coupler operates at 50mA continuous collector current and 40mA average input current. The optical coupler consists of an LED and N-P-N silicon phototransistor, which is electrically isolated but optically coupled within an unsealed six-pin lead-free chip carrier (LCC) package.

The electrical parameters of this optical coupler are similar to those of the JEdec-registered 4N49 optical coupler, with higher CTR and better CTR degradation characteristics due to radiation exposure. Sealed surface Mount variants are available as OLS449 in high reliability masked and unmasked catalog versions. The optical coupler is designed for low LED operating current while providing excellent radiation tolerance margin. The OLC449 optical coupler features a radiation-resistant version of the 4N49U.
