Rambus improves data center server performance with the industry's first fourth-generation DDR5 RCD

     As the industry's leading chip and semiconductor IP provider committed to making data transfer faster and more secure, Rambus announced the launch of its state-of-the-art fourth-generation DDR5 Register clock drive (RCD) and began offering samples to major DDR5 memory module (RDIMM) manufacturers in Q4 2023. Rambus fourth generation RCD sets a new performance benchmark by increasing data transfer rates to 7,200 MT/s and achieving a 50% increase in memory bandwidth compared to the current 4,800 MT/s DDR5 module solution. It enables rapid improvements in server main memory performance to meet the demands of generative AI and other advanced data center workloads.

     The Rambus DDR5 memory interface chipset, which includes an RCD, serial detection (SPD) hub, and temperature sensor, is critical to raising the performance level of leading servers. With more than 30 years of experience in high-performance memory, Rambus is known for its signal integrity (SI)/Power integrity (PI) expertise. These expertise help implement DDR5 memory interface chips that deliver superior performance and reliability for data center server RDIMMs.
