Renesa launched 5V high-performance RX660 32-bit MCU to provide excellent noise tolerance for household appliances and industrial applications

     Renesa Electronics announced the launch of the RX660 microcontroller (MCU) product group, a new member of the RX 32-bit MCU product family. The new product supports 5V working voltage and provides excellent noise tolerance for household appliances and industrial equipment exposed to high electromagnetic interference. RX660, as the first device supporting 5V in Renesa's high-end RX universal MCU products, is also the first device with built-in CAN FD controller in RX product family, which can realize high-speed data communication. The high operating voltage of the new RX660 MCU can eliminate the external noise suppression components required by many current 3V MCUs, allowing users to reduce development time and component costs, and improve system quality

     In recent years, as functional security and network security have become the key components of electronic systems, the scale of software has been expanding. With the emergence of more product models, more and more products use real-time operating systems to simplify software maintenance. In addition, the product design also needs to be compatible with over the air (OTA) updates to cope with the continuous enhancement of future functions. To meet these needs, Renesa developed the RX660. The product uses RXv3 core (6.00 CoreMark/MHz), and the maximum operating frequency is 120MHz, providing high performance and excellent power efficiency. These devices have large capacity Flash of up to 1 megabyte (MB) and RAM of up to 128 kilobytes (KB), and offer a variety of packaging options (48 pin to 144 pin). In particular, the effective number of universal I/O pins is 10% higher than that of the early RX210 products supporting 5V working voltage. For example, the effective number of RX660 pins in the 144 pin version is 134, 11 more than RX210. With the increase of the number of I/Os, more sensors can be connected to the MCU of a specific package, making the upgrade of the existing system easier.
