Renesas DDR5 I3C bus extensions and SPD hub products are AMI firmware certified

     Renesas Electronics announced that the Renesas I3C Bus extension product has been certified by partner AMI for MegaRAC® SP-X remote management software and firmware. With I3C products on the AMI Certified Vendor list, customers can easily migrate their DDR5 platforms and boards from I2C or other traditional extender specifications to the new high-speed I3C specifications.

     The IMX3102 2:1 bus multiplexer, the IMX3112 1:2 bus expander and the DDR5 SPD hub SPD5118 give engineers great design flexibility, and the I3C Basic as a system management bus can be used in a variety of control plane design application scenarios. This includes data center and server applications, enterprise/factory automation, and communications equipment. IMX and SPD devices are ideal when there are multiple master devices, a large number of endpoint devices, and long tracks, all of which affect bus complexity and signal integrity.

     Renesas' rich I3C portfolio ecosystem allows both software and hardware customers to design with confidence in Renesas IMX and SPD products. The portfolio is certified by hardware, baseboard management controller (BMC) and other SoC partners.

     As DDR5 gains momentum in the industry, I3C is increasingly being accepted by customers as a high-speed control interface for applications that require fast communication between the primary device and peripheral or slave devices. The I3C's 12.5MHz speed significantly exceeds current and traditional solutions such as the I2C 1MHz speed and analog passive fast switching. Renesas has market-leading I3C technology and its powerful I3C bus extensions for platform control, efficiency, energy saving, high speed, safety and security applications.
