Renesas Electronics Group announced the launch of the IPS2550 magnetless inductive position sensor. Based on Renesas' inductive position sensing technology, the magnetless IPS2550 supports a maximum speed of 600krpm (electrical cycle) and is designed around the motor, while accommodating off-axis (through-shaft and shaft-side) and shaft-end arrangements. Compared to alternative sensing technologies, customers can match the number of sectors to the number of motor pole pairs and improve accuracy in a cost-effective manner. The sensor's low profile and complete stray magnetic field immunity make motor integration easier and provide customers with the standard materials they need to manufacture their own resolver alternative, reducing BOM costs. Developed based on the ISO26262 standard, the IPS2550 can support the most challenging functional safety-critical applications as a single IC, meeting the system-level requirements of ASIL-C(D).
