Renesas Electronics Introduces Industry's First IEEE1588 Synchronization Software Based on Clear Source Code Format

     Renesas Electronics Group, a global semiconductor solutions provider, recently announced the launch of the PTP (Precision Timing Protocol, Precision Timing Protocol) Clock Manager software. As the industry's first Linux-based clock management software, it provides an easy-to-use and accessible synchronization clock solution for telecom networks including fronthaul and backhaul systems, including 4G, 5G and Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN).

     The PTP Clock Manager based on the IEEE1588 protocol has an API that can connect Renesas clock ICs to various network processors through the Linux standard PTP stack, enabling PTP synchronous access for customers in different application scenarios without spending a lot of time on customization. This Time Stamp Unit (TSU) agnostic approach enables customers to access the processor/clock combination of their choice without having to create their own API, reducing development costs and gaining greater design flexibility. When used with Renesas Clock Solutions, customers receive a "free" license for PTP Clock Manager.

     The new Linux-based PTP Clock Manager also works with Renesas ClockMatrix 8A3400x series of high-performance, high-precision, multi-channel clock products, and IEEE1588-compliant 82P339xx products to simplify integration of telecom PTP solutions.
