Renesas Electronics RZ/N Series MPU

     The Renesas Electronics RZ/N family of microprocessors (MPU) is an Arm® based scalable and high-performance communications device that supports multiple industrial networking protocols and redundant networking technologies on a single device. To simplify protocol implementation, the RZ/N series has a unified protocol communication abstraction layer that allows users to quickly switch from one protocol to another, all on the same platform. RZ/N devices are well suited for a variety of industrial applications, such as smart gateways and protocol converters, programmable logic controllers (PLCS), remote IO units, and networked intelligent endpoints for industrial 4.0/ industrial iot applications.

     The Renesas Electronics RZ/N1 features a dual/single Arm Cortex-A7, up to 6MB SRAM and a 5-port gigabit switch with advanced networking features. The RZ/N1 also features on-chip security, leveraging the industry-recognized R-IN engine to improve network performance.

     The RZ/N2L uses an Arm Cortex-R52 kernel (operating at a maximum frequency of 400MHz) and an integrated 3-port gigabit Ethernet switch (supporting the next generation networking standard TSN as well as major industrial Ethernet protocols such as EtherCAT, PROFINET, Ethernet/IP).
