Renesas Electronics expands its lineup of sensing products for medical and industrial environments with a new thermoelectric based CO2 sensing detector

     Renesas Electronics Group, a global supplier of semiconductor solutions, announced the expansion of its environmental sensor product lineup with the launch of the first thermoelectric heap-based product family of detectors that integrate optical filters for optical (NDIR) CO2 sensors. The four new single-channel and dual-channel CO2 gas analog detectors, all in TO-5 packages, offer superior performance, quality, and service life, making them ideal for a wide range of industrial, medical, and iot applications that require high reliability and precision under high temperature operating conditions.

     CO2 levels are a major component of indoor air quality (IAQ) detection, and thermo heap-based detectors are key to sensing solutions for applications such as HVAC control, air quality monitoring, surgical equipment, and CO2 analyzers in ventilator systems. Renesas's new detectors provide fast response (with time constants ranging from 18 to 25ms) and high signal-to-noise ratios of 1,981-4,953 to meet accuracy requirements for high-reliability mission-critical applications. The equipment is certified for use in high temperature environments and supports operation in a temperature range of up to 125°C.  

     The new thermal-based detectors add to Renesas' current lineup of environmental sensors for air quality testing. Customers can combine new detector based CO2 sensors with a variety of Renesas sensors, such as the popular ZMOD4410 IAQ platform with embedded AI and IP67-rated packaging, and/or HS3001 high performance, high precision relative humidity and temperature sensors. When used in combination with Renesas Microcontrollers (MCUS), customers are able to create complete environmental sensing solutions for medical or industrial applications.

     Renesas has combined the new thermonel-based detectors with their accompanying analog and power devices, and the Dialog low power Bluetooth system chip to create a successful product portfolio of thermonel-based CO2 detectors for ambient CO2 concentration detection. Based on products that work seamlessly together, Renesas now has more than 250 "successful product portfolios" for a variety of applications and end products.
