Renesas Electronics expands its range of optocouplers for industrial automation and solar inverter applications

     Renesas Electronics has announced the introduction of three new devices designed for harsh operating environments such as industrial automation equipment, solar inverters and electric vehicle chargers to expand its family of photocouplers with a creepage distance of 8.2mm. The new industry ultra-small optical isolation IGBT driver and Intelligent Power module (IPM) driver, in an LSSO5 package, measures just 2.5mm x 2.1mm, reducing the PCB area by up to 35% compared to similar products on the market.

     Philip Chesley, vice president of Renesas Electronics Industry and Communications, said: "Manufacturers of industrial equipment and green energy systems are facing two core challenges today: the need to get smaller and downsize to improve plant efficiency while providing more functionality within the same board size; At the same time, safety standards are getting stricter. The expanded small isolation device portfolio provides customers with more choice and greater layout flexibility, providing longer safe creepage distances for high voltage inverter control applications."

     The new RV1S9231A 2.5A output and RV1S9207A 0.6A output IGBT drivers, as well as the RV1S9209A active High output IPM drivers are available in thin LSSO5 packages with 0.65mm pin spacing, providing 5,000 VRMS isolation voltage and supporting high temperatures up to 125°C. To withstand harsh working conditions. The 3-in-1 optocoupler also supports 200V and 400V systems with enhanced insulation to meet stringent industrial safety standards and the UL61800-5-1 standard for motor drive devices.
