Renesas Electronics introduces 48 new entry-level single-chip RA2E1 MCUS

     Renesas Electronics announced the launch of 48 new RA2E1 MCU products to expand its 32-bit RA2 MCU product portfolio. The entry-level single-chip RA2E1 MCU is based on a 48MHz Arm® Cortex®-M23 core with up to 128KB of code flash and 16KB of SRAM.

     The RA2E1 MCU product family supports a wide operating voltage range from 1.6V to 5.5V and a variety of packages, such as LQFP, QFN, LGA, BGA and waferscale Chip Packages (WLCSP), providing an optimized combination of superior performance, ultra-low power consumption, innovative peripherals and small packages. These characteristics make the RA2E1 product family ideal for meeting the needs of high-performance, low-power systems in cost-sensitive and space-constrained applications. The new MCU offers an upgrade path with software/hardware expansions and is the ideal entry level product for Renesas' strong RA product family.

In addition, they serve as the entry level to the RA2 product family, providing hardware and software scalability that seamlessly upgrades to the larger RA family of products."

     The upgraded low-power features in the RA2E1 MCU cover all on-chip peripherals, flash memory, and SRAM. These features enable the chip to achieve the lowest power consumption across the entire temperature and voltage range, and maximize system design flexibility for different applications by offering multiple low-power modes. When benchmarking power consumption, the RA2E1 MCU scored 321 in the EEMBC® ULPMarkTM test at 1.8V, confirming its best-in-class power consumption. Users can now reduce operating power consumption to near standby levels to extend battery life.
