Renesas Electronics, a global provider of semiconductor solutions, announced the ISL9122A, a bypass mode flexible lift switch regulator that provides ultra-low static current (IQ) for powering sensors, microcontrollers (MCUS), wireless devices and other system components. The ISL9122A supports 1.8V to 5.5V battery power, extending the battery life of smart iot devices powered by button, lithium and multi-series alkaline battery packs. Targeted applications include wireless headsets, fitness devices, smartwatches, water and gas meters, portable medical devices, and a variety of battery-powered smart iot devices.
The ISL9122A booster switch regulator comes with an I2C interface and programmable 25mV step for dynamic voltage adjustment (DVS) to optimize system power consumption. The regulator has a maximum output voltage of 5.375V, maximizing the performance of RF-enabled iot devices across the entire battery voltage range. Its PFM and PWM capabilities maximize efficiency across the entire output current range. In forced PWM mode, the regulator always maintains a switching frequency of 2.5MHz to improve system EMI performance.

The ISL9122A step-down regulator and the recently announced ISL9123 step-down regulator, both ultra-low IQ switching regulators, are available as 32-bit MCU RA with Arm® Cortex®-M cores from Renesas' 8/16-bit ultra-low power MCU RL78 product family The product family and the RE product family of embedded controllers for wearables and energy harvesting applications are powered.
