Renesas Electronics Group, a global provider of semiconductor solutions, has announced a new power and functional safety solution for R-Car V3H system-on-chip (SoC) -based systems for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) applications such as front-facing cameras and driver surveillance cameras.
The new solution includes the 42V synchronous step-down preregulator, the RAA271050, which connects the vehicle's 12V supply voltage and step-down it to an intermediate voltage of 3.3V or 5V. At the same time, the seven-channel PMIC (Power Management IC) RAA271000 reduces the output of the RAA271050 to the various power supply voltage values required by the R-Car V3H and its peripherals, such as LPDDR4 memory. Both products are ISO-26262 compliant and support system security up to ASIL Level D. The solution meets all R-Car V3H power and functional safety requirements, providing power supply voltage and current capabilities to meet all power specifications, including sequence, voltage accuracy, and load step response. All the necessary power and digital monitoring functions are also provided to ensure safety.
The new Renesas solution offers excellent efficiency, reducing power loss by 33% compared to other Pmics under the same operating conditions. Lower power consumption allows products to operate at higher temperatures, reducing cooling costs and leading to greater reliability. In addition, both the RAA271050 and RAA271000 meet R-Car design requirements to reduce PCB area and device costs. Renesas offers reference hardware solutions that incorporate new components to reduce customer design time and test requirements.

It also provides a complete, tested reference design to help developers quickly and efficiently implement the latest ADAS camera applications."
