Renesas Electronics introduces a high-precision optical isolation ΔΣ modulator for industrial automation applications

     Renesas Electronics announced the availability of the RV1S9353A optical isolation Delta-Sigma modulator. The RV1S9353A achieves industry-leading precision compared to other 10MHz clock output optical isolators. The product includes a precision analog-to-digital converter with a 13.8-bit (typical value) ENOB that converts an analog voltage input into a 1-bit data stream output across the isolation gate. The RV1S9353A can be directly connected to RZ/T MPUs, RX72M MCUS or other MPUs, MCUS, SOCs and FPgas with digital filters for use in manipulator controllers as well as AC and NC servo controllers in a range of smart factory devices.

     The trend to improve the control accuracy of industrial instruments is driving the demand for high-precision optical isolation. The Renesas RV1S9353A delivers industry-leading precision sensing features, including low bias voltage drift, high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), low reference voltage drift, and high input resistance to meet the need for high-precision optical isolation. The product's low bias voltage drift simplifies bias correction, and the 5kV rms isolation and 8mm creepage distance are ideal for compact 200V and 400V motor drive devices.

     Oems want to standardize their designs during development and design certification. The RV1S9353A meets this requirement with a typical input resistance of 500kΩ, making it suitable for electrofluometry and voltage monitoring, thus simplifying the design. Most importantly, the digital output and digital filter of the Delta-Sigma modulator do not require the complex design of analog filters and other components in traditional analog isolation amplifiers.
